Nancy Tracey: @NancyLTracey I love helping children reach their potential. How? Empowering parents is the key; the home environment is the site; My book, The First Five Years: Nurturing Your Child's Ability to Learn is a guide. I am a Grade Primary/Kindergarten teacher trained in Reading Recovery. I am also a social artist. I want the world around our children to change for the better. I write in support of parents and caregivers of young children. My husband artist/musician/luthier Gregg Tracey and I live on an old farm in rural Nova Scotia where we grow organic food and follow our art. The First Five Years is my heart song. Over the years I have taken on many leadership roles: president of the Lunenburg County Council of the International Reading Association, a member of the Nova Scotia Reading Association's provincial literacy committee, member of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union (NSTU) primary educator journal committee, and chairperson of the local Primary/Kindergarten teachers' support group).
