Walking my labyrinth brings many gifts. This morning it was the surround song of birds: chickadees, robins, purple finch, sparrow and others. When I arrived at the centre it was clear a large bird was using my chair for a roost--perhaps the owl I hear at night? I love that some other creature finds it a good place to repose. I was thankful he chose to leave his signature only on the back of the chair.
Sitting in the centre of the labyrinth, eyes closed, breathing in the cool misty air brought me to my own centre. My mind filled with childhood memories of early mornings at Grampy Milne's cottage on the lake, sparkling water, the pet chipmunk waiting for his breakfast, squirrels, fish jumping and cousins laughing. Family memories return to hug us when we slow down enough so they can catch up. The practice of mindfulness assists.
