A few years ago I heard someone say: “If you want
to change your child’s behaviour—change yours.” I agree! Because children learn
how to behave from watching us it's a really good place to start. Behaviour is
so important these days. Our jails are full of people whose behavioural development did not go well. But what is
interesting is that they were all innocent newborns waiting for the world—their
Life experiences––to teach them how to feel, what to think and how to behave.
What they see going
on around them and how their needs are met has a very big impact on what they
learn about how to behave.
Parents and caregivers are a
child’s first teachers. But soon they are learning from everyone they meet. A
smile, a kind gesture, a little compassion, can go a long way when a little
soul is watching.
